LOCAL MOBILE CONTENT COMPANY WINS INTERNATIONAL DEAL

Mercury Mobility, the content and entertainment division of the Cellnet Group, has won a contract with Canada’s Bell Mobility and its affiliates to provide a range of mobile content to more than 7 million customers.

Mercury Mobility General Manager Ben Grootemaat said the deal builds on the company’s position at the forefront of mobile content and entertainment delivery worldwide. He said it would provide a major boost for Mercury Mobility’s global expansion.

“Our contract with Bell Mobility will see us provide mobile content such as licensed and created ring tones, alert tones, wallpapers, animations and video downloads to millions of Bell Mobility subscribers,” said Mr Grootemaat.

“Part of the contract also involves providing music video ringtones for Bell Mobility customers – the first time a service of this kind has been offered in Canada.”

Mr Grootemaat said customers can now experience on their mobile phones the latest in music videos and the corresponding ringtones from the likes of Warner Music artists Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Sean Paul and Billy Talent among others.

“Video ringtones are an exciting development in the world of mobile music and we’ve worked with Warner Music Canada and Bell Mobility to deliver music directly to the fans.”

Mercury Mobility will use its recently opened offices in Toronto, Canada and London, United Kingdom as a beachhead for the expansion.

“We already have a strong presence in Canada and the UK but this deal will assist us with our aggressive expansion into other markets, particularly North America and Europe,” Mr Grootemaat.

Mr Grootemaat said Mercury Mobility has established strong relationships within the mobile industry worldwide and has identified an immediate need for high quality content.

He said Mercury Mobility prides itself on developing the latest in mobile content for a large range of handsets globally. Mercury is the conduit between the content and major carriers and now has an extensive catalogue, enabling the company to successfully represent some of the world’s largest brands.
